Volunteer Job Descriptions

NOTE: please include your desired job AND shift time when signing up online.

 

 

• Aid Stations - Must be part of a Grant Group. Volunteers need to hand out the refreshments and to cheer on the participants.  Make sure that an adequate amount of water is available at all times, and keep trash clear.   Can include music, costumes, themes, etc. Be creative! 

• Clothing Check In – Check in/out participant’s clothing, baggage, etc. (2 shifts)

• Course Monitor  (6:00-10:30 or 10:00-2:00)

-The course monitor’s main job is to keep the road clear of vehicles during the race.  Monitors can bring lawn chairs and are able to leave their post when the tail car, which follows the last runner, passes by.  Don’t forget to cheer on participants!  This is an important assignment as the race cannot begin without a monitor at each intersection that does not have a policeman.  (Must be 18 or older)

• Food Court - Volunteers will be needed to assist with setting up food table, replenishing food, and distributing food at the end of the race.

• Medical Tent – Administer medical attention as necessary

• Packet Pickup   (Thurs.-3:00-7:00 or 6:00-9:30

           Fri.-9:30-1:30, 1:30-5:30, or 5:30-9:30)

– Assist with late registration, packet distribution,

t-shirt sales/exchange, expo coordination.  Half day Thursday and all day Friday prior to the event.

• Start Line (6:00-10:30)

– Distribute chips, hand out medals, organize line-up, etc. Will begin at the Start line and move to the Finish line to help.

• Finish Line (6:00-10:30 or 10:00-2:30)

           – Distribute chips, hand out medals, help guide                        runner traffic, keep flow going, help as needed.

• Team Exchange Points Assist with team transition points, ensuring that the transition is performed according to rules, cheering on teams

• General Volunteer   There are many volunteer opportunities that are needed but do not fit into a specific category.  If you are very flexible, sign up here and we will assign you to those detail assignments that are needed.

• Split Timers   On the course, call out times for the runners.

• Week Before Tasks  Can't work the day of the race? We still need you! Organize a group to hand out flyers. Help with packet stuffing. There's lots to do!
